“Emily the Strange” Animated Film in Works for Amazon

Being a Strange is hot this year.

I’m not a teenage girl, so I don’t quite understand the fandom surrounding Emily the Strange, but apparently creator Rob Reger does because he sells all sorts of merch inspired by the character including T-shirts, bags, and of course a comic book series from Dark Horse Entertainment.

It’s the comic book series that we are most interested in as of this moment because THR is reporting that Emily the Strange is being produced as an animated film for Amazon Studios. The film will surround a punky goth girl and her assorted cats created by the skateboarder all while keeping it animated so as to keep the authenticity and edginess of the intellectual property.

No word yet as to who will be part of the cast, but Chloe Moretz was attached to the live-action version of the movie and I would be totally fine with hearing her do the voice. Dark Horse Entertainment is negotiating the deal between all parties for the adaptation.
