Date Set for Unveiling of Simpsons Mural, Giant Party

It was just announced that August 25th will be the day of the much-anticipated Simpsons mural unveiling in Springfield, Oregon – and the city will celebrate it in grand fashion.

Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa, will be on-hand for the event, which will feature an autograph signing, Q&A, tuba band, chalk art, loads of donuts, and more. Julius Preite, the mural’s designer, will also attend the event.

According to The Register-Guard, the event is slated to start at 11:30am with the mural reveal set for noon. Fifth Street between Main and A Streets in Springfield will be closed for the block party.

Old City Artists, the firm tasked with painting the mural, plan to commence constructing it on August 21st.
