Dartmouth Art Exhibit Features The Simpsons
In a brush with greatness, Dartmouth art students have created an exhibition of Simpsons-related pieces.
The show, entitled Last Exit to Springfield (named for the season four episode, named for the classic novel) features Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, in addition to other characters like Krusty, Mr. Burns, Smithers, Sideshow Bob, and Moe.
Gallery owner Jane MacDougald told CBC News in Canada that the theme fits into the gallery’s vision of accessible art. “It’s very relatable for people and that’s something that’s missing with art,” she said. “Sometimes it feels a bit distant.”
In addition to drawings, painting, sculptures, and a quilt, the show also features video cases designed by artist Dave Howlett to illustrate some of the fictional movies in the show. After drawing the images by hand and coloring them digitally, Howlett printed them and wrapped them around old VHS tapes. (Remember them?) No word on whether there are painting of sailboats, Ringo Starr, or Mr. Burns in the nude.
The exhibit takes place at the Dart Gallery until August 25th. Previous pop art shows at the school have focused on video games and 1980s toys.

Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
