Dan Harmon News: Strange Planet ; Rick and Morty ; Krapopolis

Dan Harmon has tapped Jordan Young as the new showrunner for FOX’s upcoming animated series Krapopolis. The series which recently got a full season order is slated for a 2022 bow.

KRAPOPOLIS is an animated comedy set in mythical ancient Greece from Emmy Award-winning creator Dan Harmon (“Rick and Morty,” “Community”). Centered on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. Fully owned and financed by FOX Entertainment, the comedy will be produced by its Emmy Award-winning animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment. Additionally, KRAPOPOLIS will serve as the first-ever animated series curated entirely on the Blockchain, as FOX and Bento Box enter the NFT business. The company will launch a dedicated marketplace for KRAPOPOLIS that will curate and sell digital goods, ranging from NFTs of one-of-a-kind character and background art and GIFs, as well as tokens that provide exclusive social experiences to engage and reward super fans.

Rick and Morty is streaming it’s fifth season premiere on Youtube, but if Zack Snyder has his way, he wants to direct a live-action adaptation of Adult Swim’s Emmy-award winning animated series.

The Film Junkee Vodka Stream in a recent interview with Zack has come up with an awful idea to adapt Rick and Morty into some sort of live-action short or feature-length which nobody had asked for.

Why producers keep thinking live-action adaptations of animated series are the way to go despite the fact that it almost never works. Zack Snyder has about a .225 batting average in directing decent movies, so this better never happen.

With the streamer’s Central Park slated to premiere it’s second season later this week, AppleTV+ is not only renewing that show for another season, but picking up a new one from Dan Harmon and Nathan Pyle inspired by the webcomic of the same name Strange Planet. A straight to series order has been confirmed with Shadowmachine taking on production duties. Amalia Levari is the showrunner of the series that’s all about blue aliens trying to make it on Earth.
