Crunchyroll-Funimation Deal Has Potential Merger Written ALLLLLLLL Over It, Pal…**Update

Anime fans win now AND in the future.

Crunchyroll and Funimation announced a deal that will see content from each service being available on the other. For Crunchyroll, it means subbed content appearing on the Funimation App. For Funimation, it means some of its dubbed catalog being available to Crunchyroll’s 700,000 users.

Not only will this deal affect streaming services, but also expect home releases and sell-through distro. All of this kicks off today which includes  “91 Days,” “Mob Psycho 100” and “Orange” being made available on Funimation via Crunchyroll sometime soon

Our Take

Personally, while this deal is pretty rad for anime fans everywhere, I smell a merger coming sooner rather than later. I give it three years before Otter Media (Crunchyroll owner) makes a deal with Funimation that would see the two companies merge and giving Kun Gao a nice check.

Update: Funimation just sent its subtitled shit to Crunchyroll with adjustments to its available monthly plans.
