Crunchyroll Expo 2020 Cancelled Due To COVID-19 With Dates Planned For August 2021

Fans were met with the sad announcement this week that the Crunchyroll Expo 2020 physical event has officially been canceled due to health concerns surrounding the virus. While this was to be expected, many fans were holding out hope that the convention may be safe due to it’s August dates. However, any hope that the show may go on has now been put to rest.

As is stated in the official press release on the Crunchyroll website, the decision to cancel the event came as a result of the “unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 virus.” The health of the staff, guests, attendees, exhibitors, and especially the fans is being put first and foremost over the event itself.

By the time Crunchyroll made the announcement, it was said that anyone who had already purchased hotel rooms had already received cancelation e-mails regarding their respective refund. In regards to the exhibitors who were looking forward to showcasing their work at the popular expo, they will soon be hearing from the Crunchyroll team as well. To learn more about the refund and ticket transfer process, follow the link included in the tweet from the Crunchyroll Expo official twitter account.

Looking on the positive side, with the cancelation of this year’s event comes the scheduled dates for the 2021 Crunchyroll Expo. Set for August 6th-8th, 2021, both fans and guests will be able to experience everything the convention has to offer – albeit one year too late, so long as the health of the nation is reigned in by that time.

Crunchyroll Expo 2021 is scheduled for August 6th through August 8th, 2021, with the event taking place at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.
