Comics Review: Bongo Free-For-All 2014

How does this stack up to the regular comics? Find out after the jump!

FCBD-2014-Bongo

Free Comic Book Day is a bittersweet day for comic fans. One the one hand, you get free books. Of course, it’s great! Unfortunately, what they give you are a bunch of books that are just summaries of their current books, or just rehash garbage that people have read before (I’m looking at you, Kaboom.). So, the question is: how does Bongo’s book fare? Well, I’m glad you asked.

There are a bunch of shorts in here. Unfortunately, it’s all stories that we’ve covered before. “With Great Power” came from Bart Simpson #86. It came off a bit preachy with the self-confidence bit. “Mr. Burns to the Rescue” was a story from the The Malevolent Mr. Burns. The story was a roundabout take on Mr. Burns saving the town. Pulling from the Professor Frink’s Fantastic Science Fictions 1“Synchronicity for Two” was a multiverse tale involving Frink and Bart meeting Mystical Plasmo.

So, all in all, if you weren’t able to get this issue, try to find a shop that still has any, especially if you haven’t read the Simpsons line. These stories could be ripped from the show.

I feel like I am in a giving mood. First person to comment on this review, right at the bottom of the page, will get my copy of this, as well as the Kaboom Free Comic Book Day issue. The second person will get a choice of Regular Show #11, the Spongebob Squarepants FCBD issue, and the third person will get last book.
