Comics Review: Bartman Spectacularly Super Secret Saga #2

The sequel is WAY better than the original.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

I think grown up Bartman is starting to grow on me! This quarter’s issue sees Bartman team up with Ralph to find out who this Numero Uno fella is that not only has stolen plutonium but also just stole the Krusty Burger’s last “Ribwich”. During the course of the issue, we start to weed out some of the more plausible suspects but by the end, a crack in the case MAY have come.

Our Take

The flashing back and forth was kind of a pain, as I think maybe doing the issue half and half would have been more prudent, but the Bartman series is starting to grow on me. With obvious homages to the great Batman franchise, this time, Max Davison isn’t trying as hard with the serious stuff and instead they are doing a better job of putting in some good laughs to remind you of the source material, especially with Ralph joining the fray. The art team of Rex Lindsey, Derek Fridolfs, and Art Villanueva does a stellar job of showcasing excellent technique in shading, character designs, and presenting a much darker alternative to The Simpsons universe making this issue a solid purchase at just under $2.
