Comic Review: RWBY #10 Ruby: Part three “The Garden”

Taking place after the events of Vol.4’s Finale, Team RNJR (Ruby, Nora, Jaune, and Ren) along with Ruby’s Uncle Qrow are recovering from their injuries within the land of Mistral. It’s here when Ruby must find her way through a maze in an effort to find her inner-strength again as she somewhat blames herself for Qrow’s near-death experience from Tyrian’s Scorpion Sting.

Our Take

This was an interesting way to start a volume, as Ruby is told by some nun-looking figure to go through a maze for what looks like a vision-quest to gain some much-needed wisdom self-discovery and the realization that she doesn’t need to be defined by her former RWBY teammates, but she’s her own person regardless of how separated or together team RWBY is. The only person who can overcome great obstacles and be the best with or without her teammates is Ruby herself.

Even with the new year, The comic team involved with this ongoing run from DC comics continues hitting its stride thanks to the combined efforts of Writer Marguerite Bennette, Colorist Arif Prianto And once again with artist Meghan Hetrick who somehow find new ret-conned stories to tell, but this time, unlike the previous chapters which felt like in in-between of Volumes 3 and 4. This time this is going from Vol.4 to 5.

Overall, a decent issue/chapter to start the new years that properly conveys a positive message about not losing your way, and regaining the confidence of knowing that no matter what good/bad things happen with the people in your life, It’ll somehow work itself out.
