Comic Review: Bee and Puppycat #7

B&P7

It has been almost three months since our last Bee and Puppycat comic. I’m not sure why this particular title keeps getting delayed from its original release date but it is very annoying. The stories inside better be worth it.

Spoilers Below

The first story is called “Queue.” Bee and Puppycat find themselves in front of a hip new bakery. The rabbit-themed shop is expensive but Bee decides splurge on some sweets anyway. The duo head to the back of the very long line and wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. Deckard happens to walk by and notices Bee lying on the ground. He tells her that the bunny cafe closed while she was waiting. A new season-themed cafe has opened in its place. Deckard asks her if she wants to wait in line with him. When Bee notices how long the line is, she passes.

Next is “Lucky Penny.” Bee wants to go to the fair so she she can binge on cotton candy and win cheap stuffed animals. Unfortunately, the line here is about as long as the line for the bunny cafe. Just as she is about to give up and go home, Bee finds a penny on the ground. A random woman sees Bee picking up the penny and mistakes her for an old friend. Bee begins to protest but gives in when the woman says she can get Bee into the fair faster. Of course, this means the penny must be lucky. The friends decide to test the penny’s luck on some games. Of course, they win every single game. On the way home, Bee decides to grab some gas station nachos. Inside the gas station, a man bemoans the fact that he needs one penny. Being such a nice girl, Bee gives the man her lucky penny. The man uses said penny to scratch a lottery ticket and wins a million dollars, leaving Bee and Puppycat in the gas station with all of their cheap stuffed animals.

Finally, we are given “Sweet Moves.” Bee has agreed to go to a club with Deckard. However, she can’t actually dance. Puppycat gets an assignment in the Disco Dimension. Bee has to participate in a ceremonial dance, which is basically Dance Dance Revolution, in order to turn the crystalline sphere. At first, Bee does fine. However, when the machine goes faster, Bee can’t keep up and fails miserably. The crystalline sphere turns into a monster, attacking Puppycat. Bee saves her friend with some sweet moves. When they get back to the apartment, Bee realizes that she still has to go out with Deckard but she still hasn’t learned how to dance! Puppycat reminds her that she defeated the monster with her moves. Bee tries to use these sweet moves at the club and elbows Deckard right in the face. Nope, she can’t dance.

While all three stories were cute, they definitely were not worth a three month wait. Especially considering that all three stories were written by three different authors/illustrators. Putting the long wait aside, I did enjoy each of the stories. They all managed to show all of Bee’s faults while still making them adorable. If it were anyone else, those same faults would be super annoying. I would love to see more of these types of stories in the next issue. Whenever that ends up getting released.
