Comic-Con@Home: Robert Kirkman talks “Invincible” Animated Series Casting

It wouldn’t be a San Diego Comic-Con without a check in with Robert Kirkman, most known for creating The Walking Dead comics which spawned the highly successful and iconic television franchise. Now, he plans to hopefully repeat that success with his slightly less well known comic series, Invincible. In his “Robert Kirkman at Home” panel, went over many of his ongoing and recent works, mostly regarding comics, but he did take some time out to reveal some new casting for the upcoming Invincible series coming to Amazon Prime.

In addition to the already announced Steven Yuen (Mark Grayson/Invincible), J.K. Simmons (Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man), and Sandra Oh (Debbie Grayson), Kirkman focuses mainly on the Guardians of the Globe, Invincible’s Justice League equivalent. The Immortal and Aquarius will both be played by Ross Marquand, War Woman will be played by Lauren Cohan, Red Rush by Michael Cudlitz, Darkwing by Lennie James, Martian Man by Chad Coleman, and the Green Ghost will be played by Sonequa Martin-Green. That last pick is notable as the Green Ghost is apparently a man in the comics, but Kirkman has decided to change this for the adaptation to remedy not having as many female characters in his works previously. And apparently there is a special significance to have them all be played by Walking Dead alumni.
