Comedy Central News: “Rudy” ; “South Park”

You may remember an animated series pilot ordered to Comedy Central called Rudy and now Variety is reporting that the series was actually picked up for Quibi only for it to probably not go through due to the fact that…well…Quibi is now dead. So add that series to the pile that includes Gloop World, Futha Mucka, and others in terms of adult animation that is up in the air looking for a new home.

Likewise, show creator Mike Catherwood is going to be working to repackage the series for other networks and streamers, whether it’d be fora 30-minute or quarter-hour series. The series follows childish ‘cholo’ Rudy Cisneros who, after serving a 15-year prison sentence, wants to dissociate from gang life and start being there for his wife, kids and abuelita. Comedy Central and FOX Animation passed, but with both networks’ renewed interest in picking up series like crazy, don’t be surprised if this one gets some renewed interest. The series had Six Point Harness to animate and, at one point, Fred Armisen, Danny Trejo and Kether Donohue as part of the cast with Catherwood voicing the lead role inspired by a radio character he did on the Kevin & Bean radio show.
