Comedy Central: Moonbeam City probably cancelled; TripTank Season Two whereabouts?

Moonbeam City

The show had a good run, but it looks as though freshmen series Moonbeam City will probably get cancelled after just one season on Comedy Central. How do I know this? Experience.

Usually when a MTV Networks (FOX does this, too sometimes) wants to cancel a show, they put remaining episodes ordered in a time slot reserved for the graveyard viewers before making an official announcement. Sister network CMT did it with Bounty Huntersand now Comedy Central looks to be doing the same with Moonbeam City because the next new episode of the series is airing this Thursday at like 1 am in the morning. That means one of two things happened:

  1. South Park could be going longer on Wednesday and the network knows about it now (not likely) or
  2. Comedy Central really didn’t want to wait the two more weeks for a proper send off of the series.

Show creator Scott Gairdner is already hawking the series pretty hard on streaming service Hulu, letting fans know, quite frequently, that the first six episodes of the series are now available for watching to subscribers.

In related news, TripTank Season Two new episodes are also nowhere to be found on the schedule this week nor next week despite the fact that ten more episodes are supposed to be on the way with four more airing this month. It could be plausible that the network has decided to air 10 episodes straight next year versus airing episodes during Christmas and New Year’s Day, similar to how they handled the Thanksgiving holiday. And with nothing on Comedy Central’s Mid-Season Schedule indicating a return for Q1 2016, it could be a while before we see new episodes of TripTank.

TripTank could return when spin-off series Jeff and Some Aliens hits or even with Legends of Chamberlain Heights airs in June, making a formidable cartoon hour. However, this is all conjecture, and we will put in a request for an update from the network.
