Clone High Reboot Teased For First Half Of 2023…But Where?

On January 20, 2003, Clone High will celebrate the twenty year anniversary of it’s American premiere on MTV and it sounds like show creator Christopher Miller is teasing a first-half 2023 premiere of the long in development reboot originally announced for HBO MAX as part of a slew of other announced in development HBO MAX adult animation, most of which has been canceled, shortened, and really just Velma premiering next year.

Having said that, I’ve been hearing that the show may not premiere on HBO MAX (which ordered two seasons) and instead will premiere on Paramount+ which has been crushing 2022 with adult animation premieres and is looking to do the same in 2023. We haven’t seen the announcement yet, but with all of the crazy shit going on at HBO MAX this past year, and with the guy who ordered the series now working at Netflix, there could be some credence to those rumors.

As for what to expect of the Clone High reboot, we know that original series writer Erica Rivinoja will serve as showrunner of the series, while also co-writing the pilot with Lord and Miller which is entitled “Let’s Try This Again” and features Tara Billinger as art director. Maybe the show still happens on HBO MAX, but we’re cautiously optimistic about that outcome.

Clone High is an adult animated science fiction sitcom created by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Bill Lawrence. The show centers on a high school populated by the clones of well-known historical figures. The central cast includes adolescent depictions of Abe Lincoln, Joan of Arc, Gandhi, Cleopatra, and JFK. The series also serves as a parody of teen dramas such as Dawson’s Creek and Beverly Hills, 90210

Update 11/2: Miller says the show is premiering on HBO MAX making the announcement on the 20th anniversary of the show’s premiere on Canadian television and that Abandoned Pools will be scoring the show.
