Chris Miller and Phil Lord confirm ‘Clone High’ movie talk

Back in March, we did a Reddit AMA where Bill Lawrence commented on the possibility of a Clone High animated movie. Well, recently Collider.com had a chance to talk with Clone High co-creators Phil Lord and Chris Miller where they indeed confirmed that talks have been ongoing about a feature-length animated film inspired by the former MTV series.

Unfortunately, it does sound like a movie is a ways off as all parties involved have different contracts with different production companies, so the legal guys are in the process of sorting shit out:

Miller: We talk very regularly now with Bill every few months or so, we talk about ‘How are we going to get this back in whatever form we can?’  We get our lawyers to talk to each other, and business affairs people to talk to each other.  It’s very complicated.

Lord: And then we get tired.

Miller: It’s very hard (laughs).  Because it’s at Viacom/MTV, we have a TV deal at Fox, he has a TV deal at Warner Bros.  It’s all very complicated, and then it’s ‘should we do a movie, or a TV show, or whatever?’  But, we’re working on it!  It’s hard!

The interview with Chris and Phil is rather fantastic because the guys talk about the trail that Seth Rogen is burning for the potential for more Rated-R animated films that will hopefully follow:

Miller: [Hard R-rated animated films] I think is a hole in the marketplace, because people love R-rated comedies and there’s teen boys that love all the Family GuySimpsons-type of shows.  There’s a market there for that.

You’re God damned right there is…
