C2E2 to Show Preview of New FLCL Season!

Rev up your flying bass guitars!

One of the breakout anime hits of the early 2000’s rides back on a shooting star to television screens this summer on Toonami, but fans attending the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo from April 6-8 will get a chance to see a sneak preview before anyone else! Come see Toonami Senior Producer Jason Demarco, Presidents of Production I.G and Production I.G. USA, Mitsuhisa Ishikawa & Maki Terashima-Furata, and voice actress of Haruko Haruhara, Kari Wahlgreen!

FLCL originally aired as a set of OVAs (basically direct-to-DVD episodes) that premiered in Japan between April 2000 and March 2001 but aired on Adult Swim over a single week in August 2003. Nothing amazing happens for Naota Nandaba, the most mature 12 year old ever, until Haruka Haruhara skids in on a yellow Vespa and smacks him in the head with a bass guitar, which causes robots to come out his forehead. Over the course of six episodes, Naota, Haruka, and the other residents of the city fight each new mechanical threat in a series of metaphors for puberty that are not subtle in the slightest.

And now the show has been revived and is planned to air on Adult Swim’s Toonami block later this year, so if you want the latest news first or just want to chat with the cast and crew, make sure to attend this panel at C2E2!
