Blu-Ray Review: South Park Season 23
One of the few mainstays left in home releases, South Park continues the trend of putting out one of the more jam-packed DVD releases that you’ll see all year. Apart from the fact that you get uncensored episodes of South Park from a season that was very solid, add in excellent special features like deleted scenes, and episode commentaries featuring South Park producers Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
But the real prize of South Park season 23 on Blu-Ray or DVD, is that of an archive. With streaming companies becoming increasingly likely to edit or change content that they feel uncomfortable in having on their service, home releases might be the way of the future in capturing a moment in time and keeping things as they were originally intended. Certainly episodes like “Band in China” or “Shots” might feature comedic premises and punch lines that today are just ok, but in two years? As such, the ideas of home releases, even if paying a bit more than a streaming service, might have more value for purposes of a capstone than they ever have before.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
