AnimeNYC 2019 Recap: Aniplex

A mix of old and new.

The panel began with an overview of some of the popular shows running currently. One of the biggest titles of the season, Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia, is currently available with an English dub on Funimation. Both versions have a lot of character, so check it out. Another big title is naturally, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer, which is currently airing on Toonami on Saturday’s. This was very popular with the crowd (and at the con itself), and got a good reception.

A big hit, the second of the Fate/Stay Night movies, Heaven’s Feel Lost Butterfly, is out on Blu-ray November 19th. The limited box set comes with both audio, the original soundtrack by Yuki Kaijura, an art book with animation material, and an exclusive bushiroad Weiss Schwartz card.

The ever soft Natsume’s Book of Friends movie, Ephemeral Bond, is out on blu-ray on November 26th. A gentle story in contrast with all the other action packed titles.

The Kill La Kill dub is also out on blu-ray come December 24th, right in time for the holidays. The blu-ray set comes with textless OP/EDs, the web version previews, a special booklet, the Kill la Kill Digest, and exclusive cover art.

Zoku Owarimonogatari is out on Blu-ray come January 28th. Instead of the usual story, this Owarimonogatari has a few surprise twists. The blu-ray set includes a CM collection, textless OP/EDs, a deluxe booklet, a pin-up postercard set, and a special illustrated package design.

Everyone’s favorite, Kaguya-sama Love is War will be released on Blu-ray next year too, come February 18th. The complete blu-ray set includes a textless OP/ED, with the Chika dance especially, a special reference booklet, and an illustrated card set. Also, season 2 is coming soon, and hopefully that will get a dub as well.

Cells At Work is now available to download on iTunes and Xbox. It also comes with the special English dubbed OP, which can also be purchased separately if you’re a fan. There are also Cells at Work large microbe plush dolls, and they’re just so cute.

I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, which the panelist noted that many people (myself included) were disappointed that it wasn’t a zombie movie, is now available on Blu-ray. Included is also a reel of bloopers with dub cast! Fate/Extra Last Encore, is also now available as a box set, which has both audio, a PV collection, a deluxe booklet, and exclusive illustrations. Continuing on with the Fate trend is the complete collected edition of all of Fate/Zero, which was one of the most popular gateways into the Fate series.

There were also a few completely fresh announcements! One of the biggest titles in Jump and a smash hit, The Promised Neverland, is out on blu-ray come March 31st. This has both the dub and sub, and includes the dub trailer, a deluxe booklet, special package design, and also a mix-up video with both Japanese and English audio.

Sword Art Online Alicization, the entire first season, will come out on blu-ray on April 21st, 2020. This comes with both audios, a collection of trailers, audio commentary, the OST, and an illustrated card set.

A straightforward and informative panel, no complaints here.
