Anime News: RetroCrush ; Crunchyroll ; Aggretsuko

A new mobile game inspired by the hit Netflix anime series Aggretsuko is now available on iOS and Android (links below). The game comes on the heels of the recent announcement of the third season premiere happening in August for the world’s largest streaming service, and continues the increased brand awareness of the franchise which also counts comic books, merchandise, and now games as part of it’s repertoire.

It’s called Aggretsuko: The Short-Timer Strikes Back and it’s your standard puzzle game i.e. Candy Crush but with Aggretsuko all over it.

Synopsis:

Aggretsuko, from global lifestyle brand Sanrio, has become a worldwide hit since her debut on Netflix as an original short animation series in 2018. Frustrated with her thankless office job, the 25-year-old red panda copes with her daily struggles by belting out heavy metal karaoke after work.

After overcoming lots of challenges in the previous seasons, Retsuko encounters an indie girl group “OTM Girls” and the group’s manager “Hyodo.” How will Retsuko deal with the new set of challenges? The relationship between Retsuko and Haida is also something you cannot miss!

Crunchyroll has announced that they have surpassed 3 million paid subscribers to go along with the 70 million registered users, making the service by far the biggest subscription-based anime service. The brand has continued this growth by growing the brand in a number of different categories including gaming, linear TV, HBO MAX channels, and an international presence across pretty much every stretch of the globe.

Added to that, we now know that The Crunchyroll Expo will be an online-only event this year happening September 4-6 only on crunchyrollexpo.com, but is just another example of the power of the Crunchyroll brand.
