Amazon Developing New Adult CG-Animated Series From The Producers of “Sausage Party”

Just in case you weren’t scared enough of teddy bears.

Inspired by the Harper Collins book series Mollisan Town, Amazon has officially put in development a new adult CG-animated series called Amberville. Amberville is a darkly comedic animated crime show set in a city populated by living, breathing stuffed animals. The story concerns a reformed Teddy Bear who is pulled back into the criminal underworld when his former boss enlists him for an impossible new job.

Amberville was created by Chris McCoy and Sausage Party’s Conrad Vernon with Annapurna’s TV arm developing the series with Amazon Studios.

Our Take

This comes JUST as Amazon is testing a new adult animated comedy called The V.I.P.’s which is streaming now which means Amazon is definitely in the market for an adult animated comedy. Amberville sounds like a stellar idea for a series and given that, in terms of streaming services, Netflix has been the strongest with adult animated comedies like BoJack Horseman, F is for Family (new season possible for late May), and the upcoming Big Mouthgoing with a CG-animated series could help Amazon really define a niche within a niche that was proven successful with the worldwide gross of Sausage Party
