Adult Swim To Linear Premiere “Naruto: Shippuden” English Dub Episode 339 Onward

Naruto: Shippuden’s English dub adaptation has had a wild ride since 2009 when it originally aired on Disney XD for two seasons before being moved over to Viz Media’s streaming service Neon Alley. While linear rights would move to Adult Swim’s Toonami in 2014, Neon Alley was continuing to premiere the English dubs right up until the premiere of episode 338 in 2016 when the streamer ultimately closed leaving those wanting to watch the rest having to be forced to do so with home video releases only…well that all changes May 2nd.

Starting this Sunday @ 3 am ET/PT, Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup will have the worldwide premiere for Naruto: Shippuden episode 339. Of course, as mentioned, you could just as easily purchase all of the home media releases and catch up that way if you don’t feel like waiting for the broadcasts. Also, hopefully this will last because Adult Swim’s Toonami has a habit of lobbing off anywhere between a half hour to an hour of time slots without any real notice, so we’ll see how that goes moving forward. The series runs for 500 episodes in total, so Adult Swim would need a couple of uninterrupted years to do make it’s 2024 mark. The series is directed by Hayato Date, and produced by Pierrot and TV Tokyo.

Synopsis:

The Village Hidden in the Leaves is home to the stealthiest ninja in the land. But twelve years earlier, a fearsome Nine-tailed Fox terrorized the village before it was subdued and its spirit sealed within the body of a baby boy. Now that boy, Naruto, has grown up to become a hyperactive ninja-in-training who’s more interested in pranks than schoolwork…but Naruto is determined to become the greatest ninja ever!
