Adult Swim Acquires “Pocket Mortys” Producer
And why this is a big deal.
Adult Swim continues to make sure all of its ducks are in a row as it pertains to Rick and Morty. Last week, the network ordered 70 new episodes of the hit animated comedy, and this week, the company has made a move to acquire Big Pixel Studios, the producers of Pocket Mortys.
For those that don’t recall, Pocket Mortys is a mobile game similar to Pokemon in that you have to catch wild Mortys and do battle with alien Jerrys and Ricks, all inspired by the episode “Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind” that introduced the “Rickstaverse”. The object of the game is to build up your Mortys strong enough to do battle with the Council of Ricks who have Rick’s portal gun and refuse to give it back until you are ‘worthy’ of doing so.
Today, players can collect 250 Mortys inspired by the various episodes of Rick and Morty that have been released since the aforementioned episode along with over 100 avatars. The game is available for free on the Google and Apple app stores.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
