Review: Futurama ‘Murder on the Planet Express’

 Spoilers Below

Everyone looks to be in a bad mood towards each other. To prove it Fry decides to go to the store to get a hidden camera to see who the hell is scraping their shiny metal ass with his toothbrush and guess what? It’s nothing like it seems. Turns out Leela has been doing the same with Amy in regards to her punching bag, and Hermes has been doing it to see who takes his lunch…it was BENDER! and LEELA! Farnsworth is sick of no one trusting each other so he decides to put together a team building retreat. As a result the Professor brings on a dude named McMasters that is supposed to help teach the ways of trusting one another, but he just gets eaten.

The creature that ate the dude is on the loose and the PE crew has to split up and avoid him while they fix a dilapidated ship. Fry and Bender get into trouble when Bender gets electrocuted so the two merge to create Friender. However, Hermes/Zoidberg and Amy/Leela both have run ins with the monster. Eventually the entire cast regroups in time to see the monster, run away, and get the ship started to get home. But, did the guys avoid the monster?? Nope! The monster is a shapeshifter and it starts to eat members of the crew one by one.

Eventually, Fry and Bender are the only ones left but the dude that first got eaten comes back and tells them that no one is dead and the alien is actually fake but the guys don’t fall for it and they kill McMasters who was actually the real guy.

In almost a cross between Aliens and “And Then There Were Fewer” by way of Family Guy, this week’s Futurama does one thing and one thing well…reminds us all how much we will miss this show after it ends. The random Planet Express crew getting eaten and not knowing who anyone was was a painfully funny experience and with entertaining one-liners dotted throughout (ADDENDUM!) we had one of the best episodes of all time.

Error happened.
