English Dub Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You “Of Children, Adults, Ladies, and Mothers”

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, 100 Girlfriends gives Hahari a wonderfully wholesome date with Rentaro, as the two visit a museum dedicated to her favorite childhood show. Hahari being dressed as a schoolgirl was already adorable, but the trivia segment was especially fun, with Rentaro’s ridiculous amount of knowledge coming in handy. The reveal involving the Teddy Baby design was also a hilarious callback to Hahari’s childhood antics. For someone usually known for being completely unhinged, seeing her enjoy such a sweet and wholesome date was a nice change of pace.

The second half takes a much more serious turn as Shizuka deals with a difficult situation at home. Seeing her so vulnerable was heartbreaking, especially with Nano noticing something was wrong and helping her open up. This feels like it could lead into one of the more emotional and dramatic arcs in the manga, which is a big deal for a series known primarily for its comedy. Shizuka’s introduction in Season One also showed how effectively the series can make us root for Rentaro and his determination to make every girlfriend he loves happy.

Overall, this was a strong character-focused episode that shows why 100 Girlfriends works so well when it slows down and gives its existing girlfriends room to shine. The contrast between Hahari’s hilarious date and Shizuka’s more serious storyline was surprisingly effective, adding some genuine emotional weight without losing the series’ comedic charm. With Season 3 seemingly building toward another major character-focused finale, I’m definitely curious to see how everything comes together.
