English Dub Review: Farming Life in Another World “A Village for All”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
When the Sun Castle’s inhabitants join the Great Tree Village, Hiraku decides it’s time to unite everyone under a single banner.
Our Take:
While there haven’t been any exciting battles in this anime, the second season deserves credit for allowing the characters to explore beyond their village as they solve more problems. The Sun Castle, now controlled by Kuzu, is no exception, as they not only explored the mysterious castle in the sky, but also attempted to prevent it from crashing into the surface. Fortunately, this is another problem that’s been solved quickly, thanks to the hotstones they gathered to use as the floating castle’s fuel. The actual point of the plot is Hiraku establishing the Sun Castle as the fourth village in this expanding population, with it playing a key role in the villagers’ survival during another winter season.
Additionally, with the village’s new banner in place, the community is more united and stronger than ever, which should be enough to confront even more obstacles and dilemmas ahead. Of course, one of them is the mystery surrounding Urza and her possible history as the missing Hero Queen, which may or may not come into play for the third season. Given its vibe and structures in previous seasons, I won’t be surprised if it continues to focus more on its peacefulness in season three rather than further developing the characters. The season two finale plays out similarly to other episodes involving the village’s expansion. The only difference is that it’s a floating castle rather than another regular village. As usual, it’s not a grand way to close off another chapter of Hiraku’s peaceful new life, but its charming tranquility and Hiraku’s strive for equality continue to do the heavy lifting, as is expected from a slow-life anime like this.
