Springfield Takeover: “The Simpsons” Collide with “Monopoly Go!” for Massive Mobile Crossover Event
Springfield is officially taking over the board.
In an ambitious new collaboration, Scopely has partnered with the creative team behind The Simpsons to launch a massive, full-season crossover event inside the hit mobile game Monopoly Go!. Running from June 3 through July 29, 2026, the entire game is being fundamentally reimagined through a subversive, Springfield-flavored lens.
The Ultimate Billionaire Feud: Mr. Burns vs. Mr. Monopoly
The event kicks off with a legitimate piece of The Simpsons canon: a brand-new, five-minute animated short produced by Gracie Films and written by the show’s creative team.
The short reveals a deep, decades-old corporate rivalry between Springfield’s notoriously ruthless billionaire, Mr. Burns (voiced by Harry Shearer), and Mr. Monopoly himself—voiced by Hollywood superstar Will Ferrell.
How the Springfield Takeover Changes the Gameplay
Rather than just dropping a few cosmetic character skins onto a standard game board, the collaboration brings completely original, episodic storytelling and mechanics straight into Monopoly Go!.
Every two weeks, a brand-new narrative-driven “Episode” written in tandem with The Simpsons writing staff will drop, carrying players through a sequence of interconnected boards based on iconic locations like the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and Krustyland.
The seasonal crossover completely flips the classic board game rules with a list of custom features:
-
Bribe Chief Wiggum: Landing in Jail gives players a chance to trigger a brand-new mini-event. Instead of rolling doubles, you can attempt to bribe Springfield’s finest to let you walk away with a spotless record and extra rolls.
-
The Springfield Monorail: The standard Railroad tiles have been replaced by the town’s infamous Monorail, launching customized Bank Heists and Shutdowns packed with classic show gags.
-
The Simpsons Run: The Free Parking tile will host a different Springfield resident every two weeks. Landing on it transforms the board into a character-driven mini-experience where you roll custom dice, dodge hazards, and watch specific character animations (like Marge doing her iconic “Krump” dance).
-
Simpsons-Flavored Collectibles: Players can hunt down over 50 custom Chance Cards and time-limited Episode Sticker Sets featuring throwback references and deep-cut memes crafted by the show’s writing staff.
A True Creative Collaboration
Coming hot on the heels of a massive Fortnite and The Simpsons crossover in late 2025, the team behind the Monopoly Go! event feels the mobile board game offers a unique advantage. Because it is a casual, highly social experience rather than a skill-based shooter, it opens the doors to an incredibly broad audience of fans.
The Monopoly Go! crossover event is officially live and free to play on iOS and Android devices through July 29, 2026.
