English Dub Review: The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King “A Contract in the Form of a Collaring”
The Water Bucket Challenge…
Overview
After her engagement necklace comes off, Sera tries to find a way to put it back on.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episodes, Serafina and Wysteresia engage in a sparring session that quickly turns into a lesson in pragmatism when Wysteresia wins through unorthodox tactics, including blinding Serafina with dirt. This leads into a broader lecture on rigid knightly ideals, reinforced by Wysteresia’s own past antics and unorthodox methods. The discussion shifts toward Serafina’s engagement necklace, with Wysteresia revealing that it can be willingly removed, setting off Serafina’s confused and increasingly chaotic attempts to understand how to properly restore it.
As Serafina fumbles through a series of misguided efforts based on Wysteresia’s teasing instructions, Veor becomes more directly involved, revealing his own lingering guilt over how the necklace was initially given and not properly explained. Wysteresia continues orchestrating increasingly absurd situations under the guise of helping, effectively pushing both Serafina and Veor toward clearer emotional understanding. After misunderstandings are resolved and the proper method is finally revealed, the necklace is restored in a sincere moment that reinforces their bond and brings emotional closure to the sequence.
Overall, despite this being “filler” in terms of plot progression, the episode was surprisingly wholesome by the end, focusing more on character dynamics, humor, and emotional sincerity than major story developments. While much of it plays out as lighthearted chaos and romantic teasing, it ultimately strengthens the central relationship in a way that feels warm and satisfying, even if the pacing leans more relaxed and slice-of-life than usual.
