Ted: The Animated Series Teased By Peacock
As part of its major programming slate reveal for 2026, Peacock confirmed that it is expanding the Ted franchise with a new project: “Ted: The Animated Series” .
While the previous live-action prequel series—which concluded its second season in March 2026—focused on Ted’s teenage years in the 90s, the upcoming animated series will serve as a sequel to the original films. This format shift allows the franchise to bypass the high production costs and intense CGI labor of the live-action/CG hybrid version while reuniting the original movie cast.
Key details about the animated sequel include:
Unlike the live-action prequel, this series will feature the return of Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett and Amanda Seyfried as Samantha Jackson, alongside Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn.
Seth MacFarlane will return to voice the foul-mouthed bear and serve as executive producer. The series is being developed by Fuzzy Door and UCP. The project will also feature the voices of Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman. The series is currently in production, though an exact premiere date has not yet been set, Peacock has teased the series as coming soon potentially with their Fall lineup.
This move to animation is seen as a strategic pivot for the franchise, allowing for more expansive storylines and the return of the film-era characters whose actors’ schedules often conflicted with the demands of live-action TV production.
