OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Gina finds herself at odds with her distaste for lying…and the fact that she has become a Gnosia.OUR TAKEOh hey, it’s an episode where that focuses on Yuri bonding with one of the female crew members, uncovering her tragic backstory, explaining their time looping problem, and befriending her until the end of the loop where she tells them she loves them! Wait, didn’t I review this already? Both with Comet and SQ? Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got one of these for Stella and Yuriko at some point. Well, there are some notable differences with this one compared to the others. While we did already have Yuri bond with a Gnosia when they were one with Comet, this episode actually takes mostly from Gina’s perspective as opposed to Yuri. Considering we’ve seen through their eyes a bunch of times now, it’s neat to see what someone else sees when Yuri starts dropping hints about knowing way more than they should at the start of these loops. And this is especially significant for someone like Gina who, as we learn here, has an extreme distaste for lying, but as a Gnosia now finds herself in a position where she must lie to survive. We still don’t know how or when the Gnosia in each loop get infected or when it starts to have an impact on their mind, just that they become aware that they are now beings that are hated and hunted, and so must kill and deceive others to survive. As for WHY Gina dislikes lying, this points to her backstory that we didn’t know prior to this episode. Apparently she was super close to her mom as a child, and while her mom said she would be with her forever, she later came into some priestesses, the kind that Yuriko is aligned with, who promise others a chance to live forever without worldly problems by digitizing their consciousness. However, for those they leave behind, such as Gina when her mother did this, it’s the same as simply vanishing. I have a feeling these are hints to bigger details down the road, but for now it’s just an explanation for why Gina has been the way she has been. Because of this hatred for dishonesty, she decides to basically sabotage her and Otome (the other Gnosia this time) by pulling a move that would instantly incriminate them both. Then, during a freak space storm, she sacrifices herself to get the crew to safety, showing more that those infected by Gnosia do not necessarily lose their humanity. Either way, it looks like that weird delay for certain Crunchyroll shows has been cleared up, so we should be getting a regular episode release starting next week.
