Overview:
After awakening as an Oni, Shiki Ichinose must master his power and join the age-old war against the Momotaro.
Our Take(Spoilers):
We’ve all seen an anime like this and we know that Shiki is the main character so there’s no way he dies here. But then the bullet got fired straight at his heart and even though we were in slo-mo I was curious how he was going to survive. What happened next was the coolest thing I’ve seen in this show so far. Shiki activated some sort of power that involved flames and we got to see the bullet melt away before it reached his heart. I’ve been knocking this show for a while but when something awesome like that happens I have to point it out.
I will say that these last few episodes have done just enough to make me hopeful for a second season. It’s been a very safe shonen that doesn’t do anything special up until this point but the character interactions in the latter half so far have been enough to change my mind. Shiki is still pretty annoying but at the very least he gets credit for one of the cooler anime moments of the year for me.
