Overview (Spoilers Below): Everyone has adapted too well to living in the Library, but when a monster attacks, Granart awakens her magic.
Our Take: Their trip to the Great Library should’ve been a short one, but because of Peridot’s test and Satou’s hesitation with having sex, it wound up being much longer than it should’ve been. Now trapped in the Library, the crew faces not just the fear of what’s happening outside, but also the events within, including their trust in each other. The most notable case is that Satou discovers that Morion’s contraceptive spell from the previous episode hadn’t been fully cast, resulting in his overwhelming concern about accidentally getting Hime pregnant. Honestly, this world should really consider creating condoms in case something like this happens. Another obstacle is the unexpected arrival of the Abyss spider that has somehow bypassed the Library’s defenses, prompting Granart to finally awaken her fire magic through her kiss with Satou. Essentially, this type of magic stems from her gaining heat in her body, if you know what I’m talking about. This season has been putting much focus on Granart’s predicament of being the only princess without any form of magic, expanding the show’s character development outside the fan service. In fact, Granart’s possibly the only Ring Maiden that’s been given such growth this season outside of Hime and Satou’s conflict with their roles amid their relationship. This episode provides this warrior princess the suitably closing she deserves, as she can now utilize magic like the rest of the maidens, despite the showdown feeling a tad underwhelming. The question remaining now is whether it’ll be enough to help them escape the Library and continue their quest.
