The Hills Are Alive: Hulu Renews ‘King of the Hill’ for Seasons 16 and 17
Hulu has officially renewed the beloved animated comedy King of the Hill for two additional seasons (Seasons 16 and 17), ordering a total of 20 new episodes after the successful return of the show this past August.
The Emmy and Annie Award-winning series, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, originally aired on FOX from 1997–2009. The show’s Hulu revival was initially ordered in 2023 for two new seasons. The first of these, Season 14, debuted in August, quickly hitting the No. 2 spot on Nielsen’s Overall Top 10 Streaming chart and contributing to the show crossing one billion hours streamed globally across Hulu and Disney+
A New Chapter for the Hill Family
The revived series is set several years after the original run concluded, catching up with the Hill family in a new phase of life:
- Hank and Peggy Hill are now retired and have returned to a distinctly changed Arlen after years of working in Saudi Arabia.
- Bobby Hill is 21 years old and navigating adulthood as a chef in Dallas.
The returning voice cast includes original stars Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Johnny Hardwick, Stephen Root, Lauren Tom, and Toby Huss. Comedian Ronny Chieng also joined the cast to voice the returning character Kahn Souphanousinphone, Hank’s arrogant Laotian neighbor.
The series is executive produced by original co-creators Judge and Daniels, alongside incoming executive producer and showrunner Saladin Patterson, ensuring the classic tone of the series remains intact as it enters its extended second life on the streaming platform.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
