Adult Swim SMALLS has debuted ‘Chips,’ a new three-episode animated series created by Maddie Brewer. The shorts follow a determined woman named Chip, who pursues a range of eclectic goals with a notable “penchant for extreme violence.”
The series, which blends dark comedy with chaotic action, has already garnered industry attention, having been selected for the 2025 Animated Series Competition at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in September and is now available on Adult Swim’s YouTube page.
Chip is largely a crime-fighting character who in this case saves babies from would-be kidnappers, fighting cult-leaders, and saving celebrities. Brewer opts for a grittier animation aesthetic more akin for fans of Superjail and Mr. Pickles in both production and the amount of violence showcased which fits right at home with me and wouldn’t mind seeing more of our titular hero.
Adult Swim can absolutely use more heroines as part of it’s lineup and I wouldn’t mind seeing the soon-to-be-sold and cleaned out cable channel dole out some of that cash that Rick and Morty built on some 22-minute runs of Chips and her crime-fighting ways.
