Marvel fans, get ready for a dark and gory ride. Marvel Animation has released the official trailer and key art for its upcoming series, “Marvel Zombies,” and confirmed a premiere date of September 24th on Disney+. The four-part animated series will be the studio’s first TV-MA-rated project, promising to push the boundaries of what has been seen before from Marvel animation.

The show spins directly out of the popular “What If…?” episode that first introduced a zombie apocalypse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series follows a desperate group of survivors as they fight against a world overrun by super-powered, flesh-eating heroes and villains. The trailer, which features a heavy metal soundtrack, showcases a mix of brutal action and shocking visuals, hinting at the mature themes and gore that the show will explore.

The series is co-created by Bryan Andrews, who also directs, and Zeb Wells, who serves as head writer. It features a star-studded voice cast with many MCU actors reprising their roles, including Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), and Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel). The show also introduces new characters, such as Blade Knight voiced by Todd Williams. “Marvel Zombies” will release all four of its episodes on the same day, just in time for the Halloween season.
