Overview (Spoilers Below): With the entrance exam behind them, Sakamoto and Shin can now continue with their original objective: infiltrating the JCC and obtaining clues on X!

Our Take: The JCC exam didn’t turn out the way we expected, thanks to the interference of Slur and his group.  Fortunately, Sakamoto and Shin became some of the few survivors to pass with flying colors, though Mafuyu and Toramaru aren’t so lucky, as they’re reluctantly recruited by Slur himself.  At the very least, it serves as a satisfying way to conclude the show’s thrilling JCC exam arc, as well as the season as a whole.  Well, that’s what I would’ve said if not for that one minor error in Sakamoto’s plan.  While Shin and Akira managed to join the JCC, Sakamoto was left in the dust since individuals with bounties on their heads aren’t allowed to participate in the assassin academy.  As a result, Sakamoto would have to infiltrate the JCC himself by disguising himself as the school’s teacher.  However, his disguise may have looked a bit too convincing thanks to Nagumo. “Each One’s Mission” not only delivers a nifty yet cliffhanging conclusion to the season, but it also gives us a taste of what we’ll expect for its potential second season.  Obviously, the next season will focus heavily on Sakamoto and Shin going on different paths to infiltrate the JCC to find the school’s database.  While Shin and Akira strive to stay alive as students, Sakamoto assumes the role of one of the academy’s teachers, albeit with the condition of undergoing a massive body change that closely resembles Aoi’s appearance.  Additionally, Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi are commencing their own investigation on Slur’s plot to destroy the JAA for the “greater good”.  With these elements in mind, there’s no doubt that I’m more excited for season two than ever.  Unfortunately, we have to deal with the recently announced live-action film adaptation that’s heading our way next year beforehand.  Besides that, the season finale is a solid way to conclude this surprisingly entertaining anime and get us excited for its promising future.
