OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)The Demoness Sect make a move to control the government, so Klein infiltrates one of their locations.OUR TAKEWe’re at the third to last episode of Lord of Mysteries and it doesn’t really feel like we’re getting closer to any sort of conclusion or end of an arc, and this episode in particular kind of seems like business as usual, even if it does follow up on some previously mentioned plotlines. The Demoness Sect was the focus of a previous episode, though at that time, they felt like they blended in with the rest of the evil Beyonder cults that were being introduced and dealt with at that time. This time, at least they seem to have some wider scope in terms of plans, involving possessing several key politicians to try and overtake the city of Tingen, the setting of the city that I have somehow never had to mention by name until this point! Fortunately for the citizens, the Nighthawks are on the case, and that includes our golden boy Klein a new guy named Kenley and some guy named Dunn who…I think has been around? He might be new? Regardless, he’s Klein’s partner in this case and proves to be a powerful ally against Madam Sharon of the Demoness Sect. And what results is an honestly pretty sick fight scene, probably the most action this series has had, if I’m remembering correctly. But then we get to the ending, where we see Dunn feasting on poor Kenley like a vampire. Well, the past few episodes have definitely given us some ways to identify when a Beyonder is losing control, but somehow I doubt that’s the case here, mainly because we just did that plot twice and it would be odd to go back to it so soon, but also there’s likely to be an explanation for this beyond that. Being a Beyonder has been shown to lead to so many different ways of taking power, so being a full blown vampire just might be one of them, especially if we just did battle against a Demon based sect. Regardless, we’ve got two episodes left in the season, so I’m sure something on that will be addressed. Oh, and if you’re wondering if Derrick Berg, that guy from the post-credits scene who picked The Sun as his tarot code name, then nope, not even a mention of him here. Again, something that might be addressed later, but it’s odd to have last week’s episode end on that and then completely ignore it.
