Overview:
The Manga Club arrives at Summer Comiket and is determined to give their cosplay their all! Unfortunately, cosplaying as a group is harder than it looks.
Our Take:
One thing I’ve come to love about this show and My Dress-Up Darling is that they bring attention to the hobby of cosplaying in unique ways. First off, with all of the girls being a group, I learned that it makes photographs a bit tougher. What makes it tough is that two of the four in the group have never cosplayed before and don’t know all the poses that Ririsa does. This means there are only four or so poses that they can do, which, for photographers, is boring. I never would have thought of that before.
Another thing that I would have never thought of before is how the summer heat would affect cosplayers. Okumura came prepared with a backpack full of necessary things such as water, salt pills, and portable fans. He even had a hat for Aria to protect her head from the heat. All of that stuff can’t be used during a cosplay photoshoot, though, and having to take frequent breaks kills any momentum they might gain. Ririsa seemed to have a plan, so I can’t wait to see what that might be.
