Bento Box Entertainment Co-Founder Joel Kuwahara Steps Down

Joel Kuwahara, a co-founder and the president of production at Bento Box Entertainment, has stepped down from his role. The departure comes as the company, which was acquired by Fox in 2019, further integrates into Fox Entertainment Studios.

Kuwahara co-founded the Emmy Award-winning animation studio in 2009 with Scott Greenberg and Mark McJimsey. Bento Box is widely known for producing popular animated series such as Bob’s Burgers, The Great North, and Krapopolis.

With Kuwahara’s exit, Greenberg is the only remaining founder at the company. Kuwahara’s career in animation spans over 25 years, including previous roles at Warner Bros. Animation and Sony Animation. He was also a producer on Fox’s The Simpsons and The Simpsons Movie before co-founding Bento Box.

Fernando Szew, president of Fox Entertainment Studios, stated that Kuwahara’s vision and dedication were instrumental to Bento Box’s success and wished him well in his future endeavors. Kuwahara’s departure is described as amicable, with both parties choosing not to renew his contract. The move coincides with recent promotions within the studio’s leadership.
