Our Take
After a week off, FOX debuts two new episodes of Bob’s Burgers both of which feature strengths and flaws but are loaded with a good amount of heart.
“The Dead Bo-ats Society” refers to the kids finding an abandoned boat on one of their adventures that canvasses a junk yard. Unfortunately, the junk yard dog shows up and maybe just wants to play but the kids don’t risk it and instead opt to play it safe. Meanwhile, Teddy goes bananas waiting for three butterflies to hatch from their cocoons but instead settles for hatching a few eggs of his own.
I personally preferred the second episode “Dad-urday Kite Fever”. While Teddy rehearsing a play isn’t nearly as fun as it was originally pitched, Bob going after his kite is a bonkers adventure that sees him reconnecting with an old pal that we haven’t seen in quite some time. I won’t spoil it for you, but fans of Reno 911 should look out!
Overall, both episodes of Bob’s Burgers were a bunch of fun with a slight preference going towards Bob and his kite just because the dialogue in the Scott Jacobson-written episode seemed more peppy and fun. That said, you’ll have a good time with both routes.
