Overview

Louise’s schoolmate Arnold enlists her to direct a promotional video for his new bodyguarding business; a stolen car blasting 90’s alternative rock is abandoned outside of the restaurant.

Our Take

We’re at the penultimate episode of the 15th season of Bob’s Burgers and the Steven Davis-written episode largely follows the paint-by-numbers tropes that the show is known for, Bob and Linda running the restaurant whilst the kids go off on a seemingly dangerous adventure that they eventually find their ways out of. Of course everything is about the execution when you go the trope route and this one largely lands.

The 90’s radio fan in me wants to lean more into Bob and Linda’s discovery of a car outside their restaurant blasting tunes and having a good time, though I’m a bit miffed about the muffled songs being played outside the window even if I am impressed by the ingenuity of the plot device, mainly because Bob’s Burgers, and most of Loren Bouchard’s animated series, usually have a close-bond with elements of music and this episode doesn’t really celebrate that fact, but does acknowledge it.

Meanwhile, the kids heading to an abandoned high school to film a video has been done similarly a few times before, but having Arnold along is always a bunch of fun because we don’t get to spend too much time with him all that often and he’s a real joy in this one.

Overall, Bob’s Burgers is getting ready to sunset a strong 15th season of the FOX series on August 14th, but fans won’t have to worry as the show will be coming back in a little over a month with it’s 16th season.
