OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Ryo and Abel arrive in Lune and try to get Ryo situated in society.OUR TAKEIt feels almost cheating to state how obvious it is that this episode is just about using Ryo as a perspective character to get us introduced to more things about this world now that he is in an actual civilization full of people who actually know the basics. So, Ryo ends up asking a bunch of what seem to everyone else like basic questions that they all knew since they were probably like five years old and he looks at least in his teens, making them wonder if he just stepped out of a cave or something. Naturally there are also questions about him and his water magic abilities, with some characters pointing out that he shouldn’t be able to control it to the degree that he has, much less take down a Wyvern, apparently a very strong creature in this world, with that kind of skill. But all Abel, his companion from last episode, can say is just that he saw what he saw. And while they’re doing that, Ryo is noticing that this world shares some interesting similarities with the one he died in (presumably our world) and wonders if perhaps he isn’t the first to reincarnate here, which is definitely possible since that’s a pretty common trope for Isekai stories. And so, this essentially begins both Ryo’s further investigation of this world as he better acquaints himself with it, as well as others being probably weirded our and/or curious about his unique abilities. Especially a specific blond elf looking girl who rather instantly takes an interest in him, though who knows when or if she’ll pop up again. Point is that this stuff is interesting to Ryo and Ryo is most certainly interesting to the people he meets, including other adventurers as he joins their ranks and starts on D and E rank missions. As expected, this Adventuring Guild goes by the standard letter rankings that he’ll have to work his way up, and I’m guessing that his unique level of mastery over water magic is going to help him rise up those ranks relatively quickly. I gotta say, I kinda dread watching another overpowered Isekai protagonist basically sleep walk through these things while the people they’ve just met have worked for years to even get as far as they have, but this is all part of the power fantasy that makes these stories profitable in the first place, so I guess it’s just something we gotta get through in order to reach the actual good stuff.
