Overview:
Shiki wakes up confused in front of Naito, who explains the situation between the Oni and the Momotaro.
Our Take:
I’ll give Tougen Anki this: the second episode showed much more potential than the first one. Mainly because it introduced a few of the characters that Shiki is going to be spending time with. A couple of characters look like they could have some interesting arcs. That was about it for this interesting episode.
The main issue with Tougen Anki so far is that I feel like I’ve seen it before. The power system is unique to an extent, but I do feel like I’m watching Tokyo Ghoul or something. Oni blood is what seemingly gives the characters their power, and they use the blood to make things. In Shiki’s case, he makes guns using his blood. It seems like a hard power to use because you will be causing a mess wherever you go.
So far, I’m a little cold on this show, but I know the manga is popular and one of my friends loves it, and I trust his opinion. Let’s hope that Tougen Anki is a slow starter that gets awesome as it goes along.
