OverviewBrief, Chuck, Garterbelt, and others have to revive Panty before Corset and Stocking open the gates of Hell and destroy Daten City…Our TakeAfter a 15-year wait, Panty & Stocking storms back with a wild, unapologetic premiere that feels like it never missed a beat. The visuals are as bold and bombastic as ever, full of chaotic charm and vibrant energy that immediately evokes the spirit of the original. It’s loud, stylish, and unfiltered, just as I remembered when I saw it years ago in 2010. (Note: I had to re-watch the first season from start to finish just so it could remain fresh in my mind before this episode.) While the animation and direction still shine, some longtime fans may find the updated English dub harder to embrace. The original voice cast back when Funimation existed left some big shoes to fill, and despite the new actors giving solid performances, there’s a noticeable difference in tone and delivery. Still, the spirit of the show is very much intact, and remains raunchy, fast-paced, and unapologetically ridiculous in all the right ways. Overall, this season premiere/revival doesn’t just recapture the original’s chaotic spirit; it cranks it up with flair, confidence, and a healthy dose of irreverent madness. And much to my shock, Studio Trigger has managed to channel the same crude humor, bold animation, and wild energy that made this Anime a cult classic, while offering just enough stylistic evolution to keep things fresh. From explosive action to the unapologetic shock humor & sex jokes, it’s clear the bitches are back, and they’re off to a promising start. With even more chaos teased in a post-credits scene, it sets the stage for what could be a gloriously unhinged season.
