English Dub Review: 2.5 Dimensional Seduction “Five Rising Stars”

Overview:

The good news is that the Manga Club can keep the club room! The bad news is that their cosplay activities must remain a secret.

Our Take:

The only rule the student council imposes on the Manga Club for their cosplay is that it must remain PG in rating. This is a problem for Okumura because he has a lot of 18+ rated doujinshi in the room. He tells the student council that he will throw them out, and I thought this was a weird choice for a few reasons. One, he could simply take them home so that they aren’t at school. He probably shouldn’t have ever brought them in the first place. The other reason is that doujinshi aren’t like regular manga; they aren’t printed in mass quantities that can be found at a bookstore. He won’t be able to find them ever again.

One reason it was funny that it went that way was that it led to a funny interaction between Okumura and the student council president. She commented on how he was throwing the doujinshi out, and he could repurchase them once he was 18. He informed her that it would not be possible, and she joined him in prayer.

It turns out that no one knows that Ririsa is the cosplayer for Liliel. The reason her class was freaking out about her is that her name was on the chalkboard for failing multiple subjects. Looks like they’ve dodged a bullet so far.
