Overview:
Nonoa wishes to befriend Ririsa, but the rising star of the cosplay world has a big problem: her social skills are nonexistent.
Our Take:
Something is going on with HiDive today, another show I review, Flower and Asura looked buggy on the app like they were having trouble uploading. This show also had a glitchy message under it and while it’s English dub aired it was buggy, having the Japanese subtitles on the screen at the same time.
Technical issues aside, this was an enjoyable episode. Don’t get me wrong, I love awkward and shy anime characters, but sometimes it doesn’t seem believable. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched the anime ReLIFE (If you haven’t you need to, it’s fantastic) but Nonoa shares a trait with one of the main characters in that. She tries to smile at people but it somehow looks like she’s glaring daggers at them.
I was annoyed with Nonoa’s quirks at first, but then it showed her backstory. I know, I know! But I went through something similar in middle school, so it tugged on my heartstrings. She was ridiculed and made fun of for loving what she did. I had a bit of trouble making friends, too, but unlike her, I gave up the things I liked, something I’m not proud of. She needs to learn a few social skills, like how to smile, but then she’ll be golden.
