Netflix Dates Summer Hikaru Died And Leviathan For July 2025 In An Already Busy Month For The Streamer’s Anime Slate

For June 2025, Netflix’s original anime slate is pretty dry for English dubs but in July we’ve already got confirmed the returns of arguably two of the biggest anime of the year in Dandadan and Sakamoto Days. If the streamer had stopped with JUST those announcements I’d say they did a good job. Instead, the streamer is doubling down with a couple more originals that you can see premiere dates for below. It’s unknown if either series will launch with an English dub because the streamer likes to stay coy on that for some reason, but we’ll update with additional information when we do Netflix’s official animation preview for July in the next couple of weeks. We are getting an English dubbed adaptation of Yaiba: Samurai Legend by way of Bangzoom but no premiere date has been announced yet.

DAN DA DAN follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult geek. In this new arc, Momo and Okarun set out on their latest adventure, traveling to a hot springs town home rented by Jiji, Momo’s childhood friend and former crush, with the goal to solve the mystery surrounding his family. When they arrive, strange locals derail their investigation before it can properly begin, and the group soon learns there’s more lurking under the surface of the town than they could possibly have imagined. Based on the popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, DAN DA DAN is an electrifying, action-packed love letter to sci-fi and horror with the heart of a ruthlessly funny teen rom-com.

A chilling blend of slice of life and the supernatural, Yoshiki’s life is thrown upside down when his best friend Hikaru Indou is replaced by “something” that looks and acts just like him.
