Overview:
A request for Zenos to treat Lord Fennel’s daughter becomes complicated by her haughty attitude.
Our Take:
This episode was interesting, but it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. I’m sure that Zenos is trying to keep a low profile, but it seemed like this noble’s ailment could have been solved easily by him. That’s the problem with establishing a main character as overpowered; when they don’t use their powers, any sort of conflict feels artificially manufactured. Perhaps, the growth that she was dealing with required actual surgery with a knife, but when we’ve seen Zenos regrow an arm with no issues, it makes the tension in this episode feel unearned.
Regardless of my issues with it the surgery was a success, because of this Goldran invited Zenos and Cress to one of his dinner parties. Zenos didn’t expect this to happen so soon but now maybe he can complete the mission he’s at the academy for. With the way Goldran threw Cress under the bus during the surgery I woudn’t be surprised if he’s the bad guy everyone is looking for. Cress has started to grow on me even though he was an insufferable shit to begin with so I didn’t like seeing him messed with.
