OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Chalia tries guiding Machu towards his goals of taking down both Kycillia and Gihren Zabi, but Kycilla makes her move first, which involves Nyaan doing something drastic.OUR TAKEJust when it seemed like we were getting our footing with this new status quo, things start falling apart again, in this case literally and involving the universe itself. When they pulled that other Lalah out of the ocean, I kind of expected her to be a character and be part of Chalia’s team since she’s alligned with Char in the main timeline, but apparently she was already sent over to be used in the Yamagn’tho, AKA the Solar Ray weapon from late in the original series. And I don’t even have time to really process that as someone already lit a fire in a gas filled room, namely Kycillia who kills her brother Gihren (who finally makes an appearance just in time to die). Since it’s been so long, I had to be reminded that she also kills him at the end of the war in the original timeline, and for the same reason: killing their father. With that, Chalia’s plans pretty much go up in smoke, but Machu is still sent to stop Nyaan, who finally gets to show off her use of the GFreD, and we’ll be getting a showdown between them next episode. Which I’m plenty hyped about, but also not entirely considering both of their motivations are about finding Shuji, someone neither of them knew very well but are both obsessed with finding again, even resorting to tearing the universe apart to find him.Shuji himself, meanwhile, has not appeared since he disappeared in Episode 7, and the fact that there’s so much about him still up in the air kinda gives me hope that we may be getting more than the twelve confirmed episodes. BUT we’ve been going at such a neck-break speed that I suppose it’s also plausible that they rush everything into the final two. And then there’s the mysterious new character Shirouzu who popped up a couple episodes ago that I declined to bring up because pretty much everything worth saying about him is that he’s probably Char Aznable returned from the Zeknova that took him just in time to see Nyaan cause another, bigger one. He’s got blond hair, he’s got the same voice actor, he’s covering his eyes like Char did, and his name means “fourth son” much like Char’s previous disguise in Zeta Gundam was Quattro. So yeah, there’s your acknowledgement of who Shirouzu could be before he maybe reveals himself. Shit is quite frankly going bonkers in this show, but I really hope we’ve got more coming with these characters. And if not, well, we can at least enjoy the Kira Kira for a couple more weeks.
