Overview:

College student Tokiwa gets invited to a mixer by his female classmate Suo. But when he arrives with his friends, they’re greeted by three dazzlingly handsome men?!

Our Take:

After this first episode, I was all-in with the all-guys mixer. Using the fact that the three heroines all work at a cross-dressing bar as a basis for why they came to the mixer looking like guys was a unique premise. But if you are expecting the romance to progress and the heroines to eventually not cross-dress more than they do, then you’ll be disappointed. It wasn’t until the last half of the season that we even got to see Kohaku not cross-dressing.

Most of the show seemed like it was Hagi deciding whether he would consider himself gay or not because he was attracted to Kohaku when she was cross-dressing. I’ve seen plenty of cross-dressers and I can usually tell, but in this show, everyone has the hardest time telling. Hagi’s sister was even attracted to Kohaku when she looked like a guy, and two girls were jealous of Tokiwa for being around “the prince,” which was Suo cross-dressing.

The only couple that felt like it progressed at all was Fuji and Asagi. But even they have a lot of issues. Fuji writes adult manga, and Asagi is as oblivious to adult things as you can be. For being a student in college, Asagi sure doesn’t have any idea about things of a sexual nature, and that might be the most unbelievable part. Fuji goes out of her way to avoid letting him see the adult manga she writes. It was pretty annoying if I’m being honest.

Ultimately, this wasn’t a bad series, but it was far from a good series. Like a lot of anime, it was starting to feel like there was going to be some progress, and it ended. The first few episodes had me excited for this show, but all that I got was disappointment. The manga is available to read in English, but I don’t know if it’s worth it, to be honest. There are better rom-coms out there that don’t waste their premise.
