English Dub Review: The Dinner Table Detective “The person who dropped it is a VTuber File 2”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The Vtuber killer is revealed!
OUR TAKE
Okay, what the hell is going on with these episode releases? I don’t even like this show and I’ve been checking the page on Prime Video constantly, only for it to FINALLY have the dub of the episode released on Monday, TWO DAYS LATE. I don’t know if this is because this is being dubbed in South Africa of all places (lord knows that it’s already impacting how these performances sound like crap) but at this rate, we’re gonna get the season finale dub like a week after it airs in Japan. Not that I would necessarily dislike that because, as I stated already, this show is not very good to say the least. But yeah, as per the pattern we have established, this week’s episode is only focused on wrapping up the current case involving finding out who killed that guy who was obsessed with that Vtuber. Did you think it was the most obvious option, AKA the Vtuber herself? Well, the idiot detective Kyoichiro sure did, which means it’s definitely not that. But what does Reiko, our titular Dinner Table Detective think? Well, apparently not much, as once again, for the fourth time in a row, it’s up to Kageyama to shove her over the finish line.
So, turns out that the real culprit is an actual stalker who wasn’t even a fan of the Vtuber, but got a crush on her when meeting in person. Naturally, upon coming to terms with these feelings, he did the only logical thing and put a bug in her apartment, as anyone would. Then, when he happened to see her momentarily bonding with the victim (during a point when she was feeling rather down about her low subscriber count and considering giving up the gig), the stalker assumed the guy was her boyfriend and later killed him. I guess the lesson here is that you shouldn’t worry about getting stalkers if you become famous, because you can get people unhealthily obsessed with you just by being you! And you don’t even need to have more confidence or exercise regularly or any shit like that, just be nice to them in a regular way and they will instantly become imprinted. Not that that was the real lesson but I am long beyond caring at this point. Anyway, we’re done with this storyline so next episode will probably be another mystery that’s two thirds done with and then ended in the episode after that. And we’ll probably get the dub by Tuesday at the latest.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
